Python Software Systems Engineer: permanent

This is a contract to hire opportunity located in Minneapolis.

The company is a consulting organization that specializes in the wireless, FPGA, PCB, and software design realm. In addition to being a crack team of engineering all-stars, they're also partnered with one of the largest wireless networking providers in the country.

PYTHON SOFTWARE SYSTEMS ENGINEER

We're looking for a strong full-cycle resource to design, implement, and verify software developed in Python for networking applications. This includes planning and performing programming duties as assigned, including system design, and software coding. This position will also work with a team of developers solving complex problems and will participate in product development planning meetings and overall code design reviews.


Primarily Responsibilities:
-Software Design
-Develop software requirements documents and specifications based on customer inputs.
-Development of software project requirements in support of overall project planning.
-Development of tools and infrastructure for software development.
-Active participation in software process development improvement.
-Software Implementation
-Develop applications based on embedded Python in a structured software process environment, to project milestones and schedule.
-Lead code reviews for developed code.
-Participate in peer code reviews.
-Software Verification
-Develop detailed test plans for software verification, with customer approval.
-Complete tests per plan, directing other resources as required.
-Complete software test documentation for customer approval.
-Software Documentation and Configuration Management
-Develop software build documents.
-Prepare source and executable software elements for delivery.
-Set up and maintain software repositories in version control.


Technically speaking...
-3+ years experience with development of Python applications. Both Windows and Linux platform experience desired.
-Ability to develop software in a structured process environment, disciplined use of configuration management tools (SVN experience desirable).
