DBA Manager: permanent

This is a FTE permanent position in the SW metro.

Prominent retailer in the SW suburbs seeks a DBA Manager. The company is mega-innovative in the retail industry incorporating all the latest and greatest technologies and tools as a leader in their industry.  Online, mobile, social network, and television are all means by which they market and sell products.

DBA MANAGER

**THE ENVIRONMENT IS 60% ORACLE, 40% SQL.  LOOKING FOR LEADERSHIP AND TECHNICAL HANDS-ON SKILLS.

You'll be responsible for all aspects of supervision of selected staff including hire/fire, assigning, and prioritizing work.  The goal is zero downtime and 24x7 support coverage for all mission critical databases.  Establishing & leading projects, working across different teams, and interpreting and carrying out business objectives all play into this role.

-Manage Oracle applications databases and custom development.
-Reduction of unplanned database outages.
-Build a highly effective and motivated DBA team and mentor jr. staff.
-Respond to the issues and effective solutions in a timely manner.
-Measure and report performance/load compliance against service level agreements.
-Ensure all databases uptime and have effective 24x7x365 DBA support coverage.
-Responsible for day to day support and task assignments with in the team.
-Responsible for maintaining DBA operations run book.
-Establish, publish and analyze performance metrics & integrity controls to all environments.
-Responsible for supervising and mentoring the team members.
-Ensures team follows the Change Management Process for all Production/Mission Critical Systems.
-Responsible for performance, patch management, instance management, Space Management, and operational implementation.
-Responsible for Capacity Planning, performance improvements and unplanned outage reductions.
-Responsible for initiating and presenting all database projects to upper management.
-Responsible for maintaining vendor relationship and renewal of current licenses.
-Partner with all other teams in order to Develop/Support//Implement all business and infrastructures projects and operations.
-Responsible for SOX and PCI compliance.
Technically:
-8+ years of Oracle Database administration experience is required.
-3+ years of production DBA experience w/ true 24x7 environment is required.
-Extensive knowledge of Oracle databases, SQL Server 2008 and third party tools.
-Experience of leading Database and Application upgrades is required.
-Experience of leading change management process, projects is preferred.
-Excellent analytical and problem solving skills are required.
-Knowledge of, or experience with AIX, Solaris, LINUX, Storage and TSM is preferred.
-Systems: MS Office, Project, Visio, Net meeting, Humming Bird, OEM, Quest Central, Sqlplus, Toad, SQL Management Tools and CVS functions.
