This is a FTE permanent position located in the Western suburbs.
Sr. .Net Web Developer
The employer is a marketing firm and is looking for a Sr. level developer that possesses strong skills and can also fit in from a cultural/work environment perspective.
Technically:
-VB.net (or C#) & ASP.net
-SQL Server 2005. Exp. thru 2008 would be ideal.
-The employer does not utilize a DBA so a strong understanding of how development ties into and interfaces with the back end is crucial. Ability to write stored procs would be great.
-Exp. in any combination of the following: AJAX, Javascript, JQuery, and IIS.
-The employer does not utilize QA resources. Exp. with testing techniques and documentation is necessary.
Other Technical Areas of Interest:
-SQL
-Exp. in a web farm environment.
-Web security considerations.
-Visual Studio 2008 or later.
Cultural Considerations
We're looking for someone flexible:
The projects are very iterative in nature and are "moving targets". Qualified individuals will have to be comfortable in a very fluid environment where requirements change at a moments notice. Don't expect to do the same thing every day, it's always changing and you'll definitely be challenged.
Communication is the key:
Making clients and team members aware of any problems before they happen is preferable. We're looking for strong independent team members that can tackle problems on their own but are also comfortable reaching out to team members when necessary.
Practical people:
We look to create practical solutions. They're not necessarily perfect or the most elaborate solutions but they're the ones that are geared to accomplish what our clients seek. We are often constrained by budget and time lines; the solution always reflects that reality.
Project Ownership:
Specs are given for projects as well as a budget for how many hours we can spend on them. The implementation is up to the developer but it needs to be done within time/budget. Developers are encouraged to challenge a solution as much as they want. When the team settles on a solution, it's expected that everyone adheres to the group's decision. Developers are the first line of technical testing. This means some back end testing and cross-browser testing (and fixing if there are issues.).
Other Stuff:
Our projects usually contain non-traditional interfaces: We're a marketing company so whereas many apps are "Wall Street" ours are "Las Vegas". They tend to use a lot of absolute positioning and are heavily graphics and CSS driven. Sometimes it'sstressful but we're a cohesive group and like to have fun. We have lots of team lunches and take breaks for games now and then.
