DIRECTOR of QUALITY MANAGEMENT opportunity: SW metro

This company is a market leader within their innovative and relevant healthcare niche.  Their commercial software products serve elderly populations in coordinating and facilitating the post-acute services continuum in the context of national healthcare.

DIRECTOR of QUALITY MANAGEMENT

The Director of Software Quality will provide vision, leadership and direction for the entire software quality management process throughout R&D. As the Director of Software Quality you will be deeply in charge of developing software product quality processes, establish system performance monitoring and quality metrics.  In addition, you will lead our critical team of software quality engineers will be responsible for coaching and mentoring of each of these team members.  We are seeking a highly hands-on and visible champion of total quality management across our multi-geographic product teams.

The Director, Software Quality will be responsible for retaining and growing our software quality assurance. Our customers utilize our broad web and mobile based solutions across the nation and as the Director of Software Quality you will be responsible for establishing processes to manage quality for our customers across our New Product Introduction process as well as monitoring and plan fully reacting to experiences in production software.  The Director will report into the SVP R&D/CTO and be based in Bloomington, MN, just outside of Minneapolis.

This position requires at least five years of software quality management experience, including at least three years leading in a large multi-tenant SaaS environments. In addition, the position requires experience leading quality in complex, multi-year enterprise-wide programs and expertise with various process improvement methodologies such as test driven design, Lean and Six Sigma.

Our ideal candidate will have prior health care experience as well as experience working in both enterprise and technology-focused software development organization. Expertise in Agile software development methodologies preferred.

Primary Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership
·         Create a vision for total quality management, testing, performance management and regression testing across our product lines.
·         Partner with other leaders to foster a workplace culture of continuous process improvement. Drive change management efforts to increase acceptance of project improvement initiatives.
·         Track and report on product performance to ensure our products are effective and consistently adding value to our customers.

Project and Technical Leadership
·         Establish a common set of practices, principles, processes and methodologies for managing quality across our product lines.  Monitor compliance to processes.
·         Oversee all aspects of test development, management and execution.
·         Advise and assist leaders and cross-functional teams on the best use of quality management disciplines and approaches. Share best practices and lessons learned across programs and projects. Advocate for best practices in quality assurance.
·         Build, select and maintain QA and test management tools.  Lead and review initiatives for automation of test cases across products.
·         Prepare product and process quality reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends. Make data-driven recommendations to enhance operational excellence, leading the implementation of new processes and activities. Ensure on-time, on-budget, and on-specification delivery on all programs.
·         Drives efficiency analysis and ongoing process improvement.
·         Enhances the pace and productivity of development through introduction of industry best practices and modern Software Development Lifecycle approaches.

Qualifications
·         Process-oriented and intimately familiar with modern test technologies and tools such as Rational tool set, QTP, Win runner, Load runner, Silk test or Selenium. Must have experience in leading test automation initiatives.
·         Be able to contribute and direct at all levels of testing including unit, functional, automation, performance and scalability testing. Be able to function as a QA Architect and be able to step in and provide leadership in test design and implementation
·         Familiar with all of the test-related aspects of the software development life cycle.
·         Have communication skills necessary to build and maintain a highly effective QA organization.
·         Willingness and ability to travel both domestically and internationally (up to 20% total)

Education
BS in Computer Science or Electrical Computer Engineering or the equivalent technical education and experience required; MBA or Master’s degree in health care management is a plus.

PMP, Six Sigma, Lean or related certification (or equivalent training) preferred.

Experience
• 5+ years software quality product development including software and SaaS environments
• 3 + years of experience in software development for healthcare IT, consumer software or wireless connectivity/ Cloud software
• 2+ years’ experience working with distributed teams, including offshore partners
• Previous experience managing large web-based applications and solutions
• Strong understanding of application, database, technical infrastructure and supporting systems
• Experience managing resources, relationships, and delivery
• Demonstrable track record of delivering results
• Experience in leading programs utilizing Agile product development process
