SQL APPLICATIONS DBA: Minneapolis

*This is a contract engagement lasting between 6-12 months.


The company is an international power house in their industry.  Major web initiatives are driving need for a Sr. level Applications DBA to design and optimize the database for the applications environment.  The company is involved with assessments among other big data-centric offerings.  This is an exciting and complex challenge for a sharp, sr. level resource.


SQL APPLICATIONS DBA


Job Responsibilities
: Use your knowledge and skills in data management to help us build our scalable, extensible, multi-tier architecture of the future. Your primary focus will be supporting the data tier of our client-facing applications with an emphasis on data exchange with our clients and partners.
: Data architecture and design. Create data definitions, data models, and data dictionary.
: Planning, design, review, maintenance, and optimization of our MySQL 5.x and MS SQL 2008 and 2012 databases in conjunction with the Software Architect and Software Engineers.
      o Data integrity
      o Security
      o Analysis
: Manage the creation, alteration, and updates of production databases.
: Collaborate with QA to develop a deployment and source control strategy for managing and tracking database changes to multiple environments.
: Design, programming, configuration, support, and training of ETL solutions. Includes creation of extracts of Intellectual Property for loading into client ERP systems.
      o Data integrity
      o Implementation
      o Collaboration with QA in creation of test plans
: Research and implementation of other solutions as necessary.
Experience and Education
: BA/BS or equivalent experience
: Demonstrated experience in the design, planning, maintenance and optimization of data architecture and database servers.
: 8 or more years of experience with MS SQL
: 5 or more years of experience in database management and data ETL practices and technology.
: Experience with database change management and refactoring tools a plus (eg. LiquaBase)
: Experience with JPA/Hibernate a plus.
